Low Mow May

Throughout May

2024

Low Mow May

The Baraboo City Council has approved a temporary suspension of Chapter 10 Vegetative Height Restrictions for Baraboo lawns during the month of May 2024, allowing less frequent mowing of lawns to support early-season pollinators in the area. You can reduce emissions from gas-powered mowers and help feed the bees and other pollinators by observing Low Mow May. You do not need to abstain from mowing during the entire month of May to have a positive effect on pollinators. Merely mowing less frequently will allow optimal growth of flowering plants in your lawn that can help early-season pollinators until other blooms are available as food sources.
