Grounded: Getting the Dirt on Good Soil

On December 2, 2025, Serge Koenig, Conservation Analyst with Sauk County Wisconsin Land Resources and Environment Department, told the audience in Baraboo how making and maintaining healthy soil is the foundation of thriving and bountiful yards, gardens, and farms. Serge discussed the history of soil in this region, and described the principles of regenerative agriculture, most of which can be applied to stewarding land in the city, as well.
